How to Replace or Fix a Shower Bracket That Is Worn Out

Customers often buy a hand-held shower filter to replace their old shower head. They receive their new hand-held shower filter and then put it in their old shower head bracket/holder. Sometimes, the worn-out holders give up and won't be able to hold the filter. We have accumulated a few tips over the years that we share with our customers to help them fix their shower brackets and extend their life expectancy.

Tip 1 - Tighten the Screw

You may not know, but the shower cradle usually has a small screw inside that can be used to tighten the holder. This screw is used to tighten the hold of the shower cradle's movable section. It allows the handheld shower head to stand straight up if you tighten it.

Tip 2 - Replace the Entire Handheld Shower Head Cradle

Sometimes, shower head cradles that are worn out need to be replaced. It's easy to replace a handheld shower head cradle these days without the need for special tools or a plumber. We have many options when it comes to replacing the cradle.

Suction Cup Cradles

These tiny babies are the easiest to put in. The first step is to clean the area where the suction cup cradle will be installed. Next, place the suction cups onto the tile. Finally, use a stick to adhere it to the tile. You can then place the handheld shower head in the cradle. These are not recommended. However, we think they are a great idea. The suction won't hold a hand-held shower filter. Even if it does, you'll need to keep refilling it.

Change the Entire Cradle with a New Holder

This option is for you if you desire a professional look. For your specific shower, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your shower and order a new cradle. This is not an easy option, as you need to take the old shower tray off and replace it with the new one. You will also need to remove the shower riser from the shower. The tools you use will depend on the type of your shower. You can slide the new shower cradle onto the other side of the shower bar once the shower riser bar has been removed.

Universal Shower Holder Cradle

Front Fixing Brackets

This is the best option for replacing a warning handheld shower head. It's quick, inexpensive, looks great, and really works. You will need to keep the old warning shower cradle attached to the shower riser bar. This might make the shower area less attractive than if there is only one.

This option allows you to push the universal shower holder cradle onto the shower bar riser. Next, tighten the handle of the unit. This will cause the gripping mechanism to move onto the rail. It's then as simple as inserting the hand-held shower filter into its cradle and adjusting it to your preference. These are some visual instructions.
